Hispanic Heritage Parade NYC 2016


Thousands of people took to the streets of New York on a brisk Sunday morning for the city’s annual Hispanic Day Parade which ran up Fifth Avenue. The popular parade is in its 52nd year of celebrating solidarity among the city’s diverse Hispanic community, which according to the last census report are numbering at more than 2.4 million in NY. This colorful parade marked the finale of the parade season with a celebration of the Latino community.

The parade falls at the end of Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. Marchers represented Spanish-speaking countries in Central and South America, as well as Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Spain. The groups at the parade also included Hispanic associations, as well city departments, such as the New York City Police Department and the New York City Fire Department.
